Education – “The Candlelight Student”

In a small village in Kenya, 11-year-old Anita used to study by candlelight. Her family couldn’t afford electricity, and every evening, once her chores were done, she would light a single candle and hunch over her textbooks.

Her father worried about her eyes. Her mother worried about the fire risk. But Anita worried only about missing a single lesson. Her dream? To be a nurse.

Then, through an education charity initiative, she received a donated solar-powered study lamp. For the first time, she had reliable, safe light. Her study hours doubled, and so did her grades. Within one term, Anita went from middle-ranking to top of her class.

When the charity visited the school again, Anita stood before the entire assembly and said, “This lamp didn’t just light my room—it lit my future.”
